Charlene Bradford
Charlene is passionate about rural and northern mental health and working with children, parents, and families. She started her career in the north working within the public mental health, youth justice, and education systems working with infants, young children, teens, and their families. She opened her private practice providing both play therapy and psychological assessments in 2014. Since then, it has grown to include clinical supervision and she has worked with practicum, internship, and provisional students in counselling and psychology. She has also taught psychology courses at Yukon University.
Having lived and worked in the north for most of her career, she understands the importance of growing and managing relationships, working collaboratively, and balancing the many roles therapists may find themselves in. She also believes in using our strengths in all the ways that we are able and the amazing power of community. She was a founding member of the Psychological Society of Yukon and a driving force in bringing about the regulation of psychology in Yukon. In 2025, she was honored to receive an award for Distinguished Professional Contribution to Rural and Northern Psychology.
She generally works from an integrative perspective using the Play Therapy Dimension Model to help guide her clinical decision making. She incorporates EMDR, Theraplay, animals, play, art, and mindfulness into her work with children and their families. When not working, she loves running, hiking, cross-country skiing, reading, and enjoying time with her family.
